House Morgain title pic
Croeso! House Morgain is a temple:
that is, a house of peace, learning and celebration.

You can arrange your own individual Visit here for a few hours, or longer. Visits are by arrangement only. This is not a 'drop in' house.
We run cylch - small teaching courses, and we also work to link to other likeminded groups as a community.

WHO WE ARE

Shan is the owner and leading priestess of House Morgain.
She coordinates the Circlework / Craft cylch (path) which she created in 1985. John is beloved consort to Shan since 1989, and an independent Craft priest for years before that. He is the coordinator of the Political Economy cylch (path). More about John

Shan and John have one son and a clowder of Cats.

Annie is a long standing Craft sister priestess to the house family going back to 1987. She is a family matriarch and businesswoman, based in London. Colin is a Druid brother and teacher, who has done more than anyone else outside the house family to make House Morgain happen. He coordinates the Druidry cylch (path). He is a family guardian and lives in South Wales. Jenny is a long standing Craft sister priestess to the house family, going back to 1992. She is a family matriarch and businesswoman, based in Ireland. TEULU or Clan
The House teulu or clan is a social network for Pagans and the likeminded. You can be a friend of the House, involved and welcome, as a Pagan, or simply as a freedom loving person.
Teulu is pronounced tie-ly. Welsh for kin or clan.

Shan
Originally a Londoner, and now a Guest of Wales, Shan is the owner of the House Morgain building, and its leading priestess.

* Initiating as a Goddess priestess (Dianic Craft) Shan was very soon redirected by the Goddess to work with both women and men. She founded and ran the well known House of the Goddess temple 1985 -2001 (16 years) in London, which supported a large national network of Pagans and the likeminded.
* You may have heard of the famous Pagan Halloween Festival in London which she, John and the HoG Clan Council ran. Most other Pagan indoor festivals from the ‘80s and later have successfully copied its model. It continues with much of its energy and joy but without most of the original community features, as the Halloween Festival under Caduceus.
* Shan pioneered opening up Paganism and the Craft, breaking open its secrecy and elaboration, back in the 80s, for modern people. She simplified Circle ritual into her powerful Circlework training which she has taught through courses, her book and individual teaching. This is a practical way of working your own rituals in your own way whether alone, in a small group or for thousands.
* She also ran open meetings fortnightly called Pagan ‘At Home’ Evenings which was the first time other than Alex Sanders work, where anyone could attend a Pagan event without making a serious commitment first. These introduced basic Shamanic techniques to Paganism in the UK, for deep relaxation, and drawing people together in harmony.
* Long drawn to 'Celtic' spirituality and especially the Welsh traditions, her handfasting since 1989 to John (as a native Welshman) has steadily enriched her understanding and respect for this easily misunderstood spirituality.
* As well as open meetings, Circlework courses and others, writing books and articles, research work, supporting a national network of groups and individuals, helping others start new businesses and groups, and a busy counselling practice, Shan fought the ritual abuse hysteria of the '90s via the national media. Eventually by 2001 her health collapsed through overwork, but after five years of retirement she was called to return to her work as a community priestess. Now in House Morgain her story as a priestess continues in renewal.

* Besides being an elder community priestess and experienced organiser, Shan has had a 20 year career as a humanistic therapist/ counsellor and carried out PhD level research as a thealogian. She is a professional educator, a successful businesswoman, an ME survivor, a writer, dancer, Cat friend, mother of a teenage son and devoted lady to her John.

* In spite of being an elder with a life full of achievements, Shan rejects titles, and any status other than the respect we choose to give someone because we recognise their skills and experience. She loves clothes! books, dance, chanting, good food and good companionship. Shan is very down to earth, friendly, and practical. Her deepest dedication is to kindness.

John
aka “John the Sailor” aka Sion of West Wales, is a Craft priest since 1985, Shan’s beloved consort, and father of their son.

* John worked in local government for many years, and towards the end of that career handled seriously large budgets and major responsibilities. Changing direction with some help from the famous Atlantis community, he became a contract sailor, and among other things crossed the Atlantic in a very leaky boat with a completely inexperienced crew to train! That is how he discovered his love of teaching.
* Originally Wiccan, with some involvement with the early Circle of Chaos in Leeds, John joined House of the Goddess in summer 1987, trained in Circlework, and rapidly became a major member of HoG Clan Council.
* In 1988 he acquired beautiful Yacht “Swift” sailing her to the Hebrides, and living there for a year. On his return he and Shan discovered to their complete amazement that they had passed from deep friendship to love, so they immediately handfasted (1989).

* John continued to solidly support Shan’s work in House of the Goddess, particularly in running Pagan Halloween festival and many other smaller gatherings and camps. As well as this major commitment, often nursing Shan when she was ill, he was actively co-parenting with her. He has always been a fully involved father to his son including full home education.
* In his own independent life John ran a successful business and has been for 20 years an academic lecturer in politics and economics. He now works with Shan running their family business in online education.
* In recent years John has been a contributing author to “Pentacle” magazine. John has typically contributed to the Pagan community as a background supporter but his influence is no less powerful for not choosing the centre spot. He is especially knowledgeable in organisation skills including committee work and bureaucracy.
* John is a very private person who values competence and kindness very highly.

Annie SOUTH WEST LONDON.
Annie is a family matriarch with a daughter and teenage grandson. A successful businesswoman and bookkeeper, an experienced incense maker and amateur herbalist, Annie is a bright, graceful lady who radiates generosity, cheerfulness and fun.
Annie joined House of the Goddess in 1987 after going to the first Pagan Halloween Festival. She then trained in Circlework and because she was eminently practical and resourceful, quickly joined HoG Clan Council.
After several years sterling service with HoG Annie set up her own project "Nature's Bounty" a shop nearby selling principally herbs and incenses as well as general Pagana.
Long ago a biker, most recently Annie has moved into a completely independent lifestyle for the first time ever: this is new because she became a mother very young. She mainly works for a leading theatre critic/ journalist as her personal assistant.
Annie is a much loved priestess of House Morgain, particularly noted for her skill in preparing a temple for Circle with a deft and graceful hand.

Colin SWANSEA, SOUTH WALES.
Colin is a Druid brother and teacher, who has done more than anyone else outside the house family to make House Morgain happen through many hours of practical and personal support.
He coordinates the Druidry cylch (path) in the tradition of the Order of the Mithrilstar.
Colin is retired President of one of the most powerful biker organisations in Wales which he built up over many years into an international network with extensive community services. He has worked as an able administrator and in practical jobs too. Heavily disabled he is now honorably retired, doing voluntary work as an online tutor.
Colin is a family guardian with a long devoted marriage of 39 years, a son, a daughter, and several grand children.
He is a strong, solidly capable elder, with a gentle and humorous presence it is unwise to underestimate for he misses very little.
Much loved by all at House Morgain Colin visits frequently and enjoys both his own path of Druidry and Shan's Circlework.

Jenny Near DUBLIN, EIRE.
Jenny is a long standing sister priestess in the Craft to the house family. She and her son shared the years of early mothering with Shan and John so their two boys became friends, with memorable events around acting key roles in the Circle together. In 2006 she played a key part in reinvigorating her friend Shan as a priestess and as a person.
Jenny joined House of the Goddess in 1992 and quickly became a valued member of its Clan Council, sharing the work of many festivals. She has a senior track in retail management and for a number of years lived on a canal narrow boat. Her talents are both in business and in design which makes her a powerful partner in ritual space.
Jenny is a family matriarch and ace homemaker - and home builder. She found a wonderful man actually worthy of her after a long and wearying search for him! They now have two small additional boys after epic triumphs over medical adversity.
At present Jenny is preoccupied with her family responsibilities and setting up a new family business, but she takes a lively interest in House Morgain affairs, including regular visits. Jenny's elfin smile is unmistakeable.

Lorri ARKANSAS, USA.
Lorri is a solitary priestess, though in her personal life she is devotedly partnered. Her beloved is one of John's oldest and closest friends going back 35 years. She lives in a sprawling ranch house in the backwoods with a large spread of land including extensive woodland, in which wild deer roam.
Lorri befriended the House family in 2006 and provided sterling support for the birthing vision of House Morgain. She has continued to support the family when the early development stages were at their most difficult.
She is a family matriarch with a son and a daughter, and professionally a senior nurse working with elders. Lorri's passion is her pack of pedigree dogs, with whom she is establishing a breeding kennels.
Lorri is a strong, practical minded no nonsense but immensely kind person, who has an especial interest in our online or isolated members.
