House Morgain is a temple and a college with several very different cylch (paths). Each cylch or path opens the way to knowledge and personal power.
Different paths suit different people.
Some people need to work in different ways at different times. Some love working different ways at the same time!
Many of our one day sessions can also be done on their own.

CIRCLEWORK
Shan Morgain, priestess.

A Craft tradition of practical ritual and darklight philosophy, centred on freedom.
Circlework teaches exactly what to do yet leaves you free to do it your way!

Circlework is intuitive, working through the body, by doing things, rather than by speeches and scripts.
Studying is also well respected but not necessary unless it is enjoyed. This is a way of the heart.
Rules Circlework uses as little by way of rules and structure as possible. What little it uses is what is really necessary so this very basic structure has to be strictly honoured - in order to open up more freedom.
The body is gendered male and female so Circlework explores how this affects us. Goddess, God, priestess, priest, femininity, masculinity.

Circlework ritual can be for one person alone, or for a group, for a crowd.
Circlework rites are extremely flexible, adapting to any situation whatsoever
The ritual Circle is taught, in four quarters (the mandala of the elements of Nature).
Circlework ritual is strikingly practical and powerful. The Circle is a place of safety, yet never boring. The simple but deeply effective Circlework recipe ensures that ritual works!

Meditation. This is far too often taught as a great mystery. It isn't. There are different ways to do it and everyone can find some to suit them. It's an essential tool for self awareness and healing.

Darklight philosophy is about BOTH. Not splitting things into enemy pairs. Seeing each thing in both its good or bad character. This especially affects how we feel about mind and body, men and women.
Life rites - baby welcoming, handfasting, celebration of life/ funerals, memorials.
Festivals - the traditional eight festivals of the year, celebrated alone, with family or friends, or at a larger gathering.

A person using Circlework needs to be, or want to be, extremely independent minded.
There is no Circlework hierarchy or degrees,
except by your own personal recognition of another’s value.
Initiation is possible in this way, for those who need it.

Shan Morgain is a Londoner, with some Irish and Moravian ancestry. She was given a Welsh name by her mother, then as a mature woman handfasted John Davies, her fiery Welshman. They have one son..

Shan founded the pioneering temple clan House of the Goddess in 1985 as she completed her own Craft initiation. During its extraordinary 16 year herstory House of the Goddess was one of the leading architects of a modern, open Paganism. Shan was its Clan Mother ably assisted by a remarkable group of people, the HoG Clan Council.
Among their many innovations were fortnightly open meetings (the Pagan 'At Home' Evenings) and the famous Pagan Halloween Festival 1987 - 1996: now run as the Halloween Festival. This was the first national Pagan festival UK, and it was open to the public. Its famed rituals served up to 500 people in the Circle, with full participation for all.
House of the Goddess, founded out of Dianic Craft (women's spirituality) created Circlework for women, men and children, then moved later into innovative men's work; here too the temple was at the cutting edge of the times. There was always a family basis to the clan and its final stage was work on children's own rituals and spirituality.

Shan began teaching Circlework in 1985. Circlework was also published as a book which sold in mainstream bookshops; a new third edition is now planned.
In 2001 Shan retired for five years due to overwork and poor health. She was then able to renew her commitment to her work as a community priestess.
Shan is a very down to earth, solid character, with great kindness, who loves enjoying life and helping others to come together to do the same.
